<text>TABLE XCVI
These two existing monuments are in the cloister of the church of St. Augustine, and were made to honor the piety of loving brothers laid to rest next to each other, one to the memory of modesty and integrity of the scholarly and zealous Cardinal Giacomo Sciaffenati, the other to remember the virtues of the industrious Bishop Octavian Fornari. Each monument consists of a base, flanked by the arms of the deceased with an epigraph that recalls their main important merits. Next to it is a beautifully carved urn that contains the ashes of the illustrious departed, whose body is carved into the bass-relief and is shown lying on the cover, with his head resting on his hands, and he seems to be as gentle and quiet as one sleeping. The death of the righteous is a sweet sleep, among the continuing struggles of the underworld, and Francati flying to recommend the eternal reward of virtue in the smile of the angels.
As for me, given all the times I have paused in front of these Christian monuments, I can only highly regret the strange customs some took in creating the graces with more than moral or religious instruction. But granted that this bad technique does not invade the mind of most artists, we can say this was just a brief and illustrious fad; it is the most inferior of the monuments are here. It was made for Father Milano, who had gone to Rome, when Sixtus IV appointed him to be an attendant, and he was elected the Bishop of Parma in 1482, and the following year he was awarded the “sacred purple” with the title first of St. Cecilia and later St. Stefano of Monticello. There was a Roman Curia, who often worked with him in business activities, though few could match the affability and kindness of his ways. The aspects of his life that earned him the affection and esteem from everybody earned him no less than to perpetuate his desire that after death in 1497 he would receive Christian resignation. </text>

                <text>TABLE CIV
In this most gracious Church of St. Maria of Ara-Coeli, made over the temple of Giove Feretrio, raised by Romoto to vote in a battle against the Cecinensi peoples, and it contains many precious moments of every art style and every age, that there is an abundance for individuals to observe. Aleuni, as understood by four others, understood that this table marked 104 is the one we will speak about. But before you can look at the two words above this art from ancient times, what was finished in Etrusci by the architects of the sixteenth century and their particular tastes and styles. I want to say that this art shows a history in the kind of marble that was used and the way it was adorned with the facades of houses. After the painter Duccio had hollowed the figures in the marble cathedral of Siena, this art was thought to be perfected by Domenico Beccafuni, who led so many subjects of Genesi, and who still has among the most beautiful artistic monuments. And the way of doing so pleased him, and outraged the best craftsmen, who wanted to pursue it even on the facades of the houses. Today, they seem to have going into disuse and have almost been lost, and we see particular evidence for this in the distinguished sculptor Mr. Vincenzo Gaissi, who designed the marble in a forceful and original way, and has been able to replace the fragile asphalt, when previously its grooves were unfilled, and made it much more durable and lasting. These are very beautiful works for the committee of the lovely Prince Alexander of Torlonio, who displayed the freshly made monument to adverse viewers. But it is time to go back to the discussion of our illustration of the monument.
The first of them, and the others that follow, make up a quadrilateral in the center enclosed by a circle of leaves and flowers, as well as the figure of a deer, which represents the generosity of the Lord, to whom this coat of arms belongs. At the of the sepulchral plaque, it is known to hold and preserve the remains of the deceased Gerardo Maffei of Velletri, who was known for his costumes, pious ways, and knowledge which got him much praise as an apostolic writer, who was in charge of the register of the apostolic chamber, and the secretary of many Roman Popes.
In the second monument, which is more ornate than the first, but otherwise created in a similar way, there is an outline around the effigy of Brigid, posthumous daughter of Francis Militia, wife of the Evangelist Risoca, who is deposited in this tomb. This figure carved in marble is a wonderful and sad work for the sad resignation that shines from his face, and for the east of the clothes and the blankets surrounded by delicate pleats. On the sides of the head, you can see the names, with a picture of a rampant greyhound dog, which teaches that fidelity should be the warrior to God and to the prince. The ornaments, which are the frieze of this monument, are sunken in and made of marble, and filled with metals: this is the only example of this style we have seen in Rome, and we could not omit it from the collection because it is something so unique.
In the third picture, you can see a man wearing a long dress, and over his shoulders is a peninsula. This is the portrait of Stefano Capodiffero, who was a unique man, who was fairly lucky, yet impassive in reactions. His sepulchral monument was paid for by Diana Tebaldi, who was unhappy over conditions of common mortals, and the bitter task of seeing the composing bones of his son for whom he hoped his eyes were closed. As in the previous ones, the head us surrounded by two coats of arms (of Tebaldi of Capodiferro from left to right), which expresses the love to the hardships of life, and in another is a half prancing horse that represents generosity and love. The epigraph on these monuments reads much more, and we were able to find it after a great deal of care. So, again, we know that the marble epigraph was disturbed by the enemies of the deceased with the intent of affronting his memory. It is here where we read about the accurate description of the church and convent of Ara-Coeli, which left to us by P. Casimiro. On page 102 of his work, which discusses the monument, he says “two plaques are seen on the floor, however, graphite composes the inscriptions at the foot of Stefano and Tiberius, which have been destroyed and levelled by envy, and they were found in the library of Emo Albrani Alexander, the other place mentioned in the register”. As for how much care we put in throughout the book and in other works by the same author, we have come to find that the epigraph is of swine and vesicular disease, rather than the words he promises us. That which we were able to find more of in the memorial of the Sepulchral Cardinal Francis Gualdi, is in the process of being printed by Mr. Benedetto and Mr. Constantine Mellini Gigli.3
Finally, the fourth is far more ornate than any of those aforementioned, and has stayed in the midst of the family, consisting of a rampant lion traveling through three mountains, signifying the great and generous actions, and his invincible and virile mind. This monument is in memory of Benedetto Podio, a young teenager removed from the world by dead, to signify hope to his relative and much of the country. </text>

The terrible singer of the Three Kingdoms sits at a throne where the pedestal reads that mysterious apostrophe. But, we want to say at once, analyze each mystery if you look good in that little rod that opens the door of Dite, and these sententious words-What advantage in the fairy given through a horn hit? - Pronounced solemnly made from the sky. But we did not make it slows us in a comment. We will stop in looking at that big crown with laurel and fixed eyes to the sky is in this attitude: having written the last words of his book, the pen has gone away almost automatically, while with the spirit engrossed in a ray of divine wisdom, however, basks in contemplation.
The love that makes new the sun and the other stars
Here is what is added when the attention is stopped on who looks at the monument that the knight Francesco Tosi Maria consecrated to Dante Alighieri on the title of this collection.
As this happens because the monument itself, with defects richness of the ornaments, which instead all parties subscribing , but because these are available for a rational rays converge at all since the center , who willed to recognize in the main: Topic . In fact, you are descended from this and to examine its parts, and first among them stand where they are collected into three compartments of equal number symbolizing the three realms of the divine comedy. View in from the right Charon the demon and the evil seed of Adam to go on the wave brunette Acheron, in the middle of the mystical chariot drawn by the mystic hill griffin seven dancers around, the four feathered animals, and two old dress odd but seems in place, and finally the old man alone be sleeping with his face witty. And among these allegories of the holy virtues, the evangelists, the New and Old Testament, go to wonderful hymned and the ledge of divine things, theology, figuration Beatrice. Finally, in what is missing from you are presented to the eye.
The high triumph of the Cerace Kingdom
The topics covered so open and again before the divine volume, in order to return you to contemplate him who and teacher of color who can lift up with one at home and himself a sublime monument of glory. It alerts you to stay right on the head with them, that if this was the big prize of knowing, ever more worthy stop for front and girded himself. He and only after having seen and thought everything that catered granted carry the eye around the other parts of the work, and to consider the four pillars of beautiful chandeliers of various flowers and foliage flanking the niche where sits the poet and with the very capitals rise to support the architrave frieze and cornice . And over this, trying to finish the monument with a semi-circular shape that lots of drawers made of foliage and poetic, in whose midst was fierce and the bezel is engraved in a pitiful tragedy of Ugolino; precisely what the haggard face revealing of the sons to the father unhappy of the horrible reality of his situation, whose biting his hands from the pain. Poor children whose prime of life was stripped before the eyes of his father’s last moments with despairing barbarism! Poor father whose name, in which you summarize all the dearest pleasures of nature, was hit with the most acute tip while his heart bled! Oh a painting of a crime so horrendous that makes people bow to his words just as he who gives one shudder to human nature, it squeezes out from the edge of the tears of pity, for which we feel how beautiful that sublimed daughter of God truly is.

                <text>TABLE III
OPVS MINI- these words are read to the foot of the tabernacle where the holy oils are situated in the passage where the sacristy of St. Maria in Trastevere is located-And these words, as we all see, stray away some doubts about its author's name. Which we do not know if it came to thank his work at the sight of the beholder; the best glue elegance of that neck of the ornaments or exquisite crafting with good design of carved figures and bas-relief. Sure, after being delighted overall, we are delighted to view in its details; grateful to the knight Tosi who has such accuracy in posing the design at which point Mino da Fiesole decided to shape it and make it through marble.
The name of this author makes you want to remind him of when he writes the Vasari: about art instead of squaring the stones with Desiderio of Settignano, young and excellent in sculpture, who begins to make from earth the things that his master had done in marble, and with such skill that he points out which artist would seize him first before putting it to work on things that his art brought him up from. He was so fond and grew affection toward Mino that, when Desire died, he had so much despair that he grew bored with the Sojourn in Florence and abandoned the city and is here in Rome.
Of the few jobs that Mino did in Rome, some were lost; he was willed therefore to know Knight Tosi who had chosen to be a part of this collection of works that survived. And presently treating this tabernacle, we sell it consisting of two pillars, by the Corinthian order, of a simple base decorated with vague foliage and supported by an eagle in flight between two cornucopias of such beautiful sculpture that not by an entablature and a pediment containing elegant ones in the middle of the Holy Spirit that is upon all the work. in the closed compartment of those pillars, five angels stand in various poses, some which sing hosanna and others which support the tabernacle where on top, these words are written- olea sancta-This is located in the middle of two niches put in perspective surmounted by a frame of rich work and flanked on the outside by two candlesticks that each have a prophet explaining laws, in that verse of Ecclesiastics -eum Cibavit vitae pane-and in that left these words taken from the seventh seventieth psalm of David- panem coeli debit eis- That alludes to the mystery of the Eucharist, in which it certainly also helps that the figure of the Savior is standing on the frame above the two aforementioned niches. On the cross from his left and right hand while it's raining blood in a chalice below. A crown of seraphim always acts behind praising with him offerings to the Eternal Father his very blood for the redemption of mankind to him that falls under the Eucharistic species in his redeemed souls to keep you well and is as beautiful as the remade passion in the eyes of God Oh, in those sacred symbols, the cross and the chalice, it contains a great idea, the love of the creator for his creation!</text>

At the time that Sixtus IV Celebrated harmony with the Christian principles, he even raised a temple to the Virgin Mary under the invocation of peace and made at a monastery- precisely in the cloister of this , that and the work of Bramante Lazzari , as the shy Militia recognized many mediocre things also saw the columns of the second order lay in the middle of the arches of the porch and one does not know that the contrast of the lower arch of the architecture above , the deposit is designed by Knight Tosi and recorded in the this table - Three shelves overhanging the wall supporting a large base in the midst of which the ministry is seen hanging horizontally in two bands , and flanked by two noble arms surmounted by miter . Two nimble pillars arise on this basis supporting an entablature and an elegant close between a hara on which lies a man dressed in the clothes of bishops with overlapping hands to his chest. An inscription on the anterior face in the year 1497 reveals the name and dignity of Andrew Bocciacci jurist and bishop of Modena, a man of great stature, in which Pope Sixtus saw to Ferdinand, King of Sicily, and the successors Innocent VIII and Alexander VI in the Hercules, Duke of Ferrara, who is not in the Inquisition for heretics to Savoin. In the sides of the coffin many books are overlapped one another , perhaps to symbolize, or perhaps to signify the product was extinct, or perhaps better to indicate that here rests on the fame of his doctrine. Some nimble and light festoons formed bells running from one capital to the other side of the pillars on the space that lies between the urns with elegant coffered ceiling. It is not known who the author of this deposit was.

                <text>Table VI
Ferdinand Ponzettiint in the year 1509 erected a tomb to his family; spear of noble and ancient lineage of Naples transplanted to Rome had to be here to flourish. And growing in the chapel the statue of St. Mary of Peace in the church built with the architecture of Baccio Pintello by Pope Sixtus IV, as we have said elsewhere, obtained for the concord of Christian principles - This tomb, as seen on the table, is a simple, rectangular shape and divided into two parts - the lower, almost base- wide, contains a framework in which it holds the entry where people are buried and who it was intended for the funeral room. The frame of this picture adorned with festoons read that has two coats of arms on his hips formed a shield that represents two hands indicating a rise and the other the set of a star , life and death. At the top, almost the urn, see among the various intertwined flowers and leaves with whimsical animals, two rounds comprising two half-figure portrait of an old man and a young person of a family who rests in here. Both play a sad face in a scroll, perhaps one where recorded and what was the old plant that produced their gentile offspring. Maybe that thought saddens them that it is not worth blazon to instantly lengthen the days prescribed in live human? Or maybe that they be freezing outside of his native land? This would lead us to believe the words that Ferdinand wrote on the stones-Vetustissimae Ponzettorii familiae partenopeeRomae obiture- inspiring words to Christians but it is but a melancholy resignation to a deep pain. If not it better to reveal the cause of their sadness other store that Ferdinand raised a few years before this. The time was a major disaster. We'll see him at the table IX: but of this, I was given and what we track down the author's name and those who do not question was one among talented artists of his century.</text>

Not many years that the hospice attached to the church of St. Mary in Montserrat, has made at least two Valenziani and the Aragonese , the first in 1319 , the other in 1495 , a vague porch was built with the design of architect Knight Peter Camporese. And this porch welcomed all the works of culture that came to fame as a valuable existing in St. James, the Spanish national church already threatened to ruin. Now among the various monuments of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries there greeted especially true for purity and ease of style that does not gracefully proportioned and the richness of ornamented and why in 1506 the Spanish bishop Ex- Valdes prepared himself. The Knight Tosi, studying in all its details and the style with which this work diligently conducted, believed to recognize that the same sansovino explained in other sculptures for certain the outputs were from his own chisel: therefore he drew from the same work as its author. If any esteem having to disagree with the opinion that it was precisely those the author will not be able to stop not agree in saying , will be conducted this work that only could a hand so valiant as that of Sansovino. Two large pillars and an elegant close in if the monument. Three compartments in the large base are the ones smallest side-arms of the deceased, the average and the largest stones, where laws as he himself ordered the sepulcher, and how many years he lived plucked death on December 26, 1506 being the butler of the Pope Alexander VI. On this basis, two shelves stick out from a band full of gentle grooves to hold up a delicate frame supporting the urn to bury the beautiful by the grace of proportions and for the ornaments: lies stretched over it on the deceased prelate. In the middle of the ballot is written a Latin couplet: there was in this wise counsel to prepare the grave before the death of that and uncertain time. A Greek cross in the middle and the two candlesticks burning in the sides occupy three slots marked in that part of the wall that you have between the urn and the beautiful frieze composed of heads of scrafini, which runs from one to the other capitals of the two pillars. There arises on those close to the monument in semicircular shape a band of exquisite work, leaving between itself and the frame bezel that contains a Virgin and Child flanked by two kneeling angels.
Anyone who stands in looking at this monument is not removed since it does not contemplate any first convinced upheld in it all the qualities that essence, represent a masterpiece of the art of that era.</text>
